well one way you could do it..given that you do not wish to go through the precipitation procedure.Do a flame test...( google flame test and I am sure there will be an outline of the easy wy to do one. As I remember, bismuth imparts an intense azure blue color to the flame....which of course will vary in intensity by concentration. a small amount of the solution will suffice
