Does the salt used on our roads every winter have a negative effect on the sea?

Are their any expert opinions on the effect of spreading many millions of tons of salt on our roads every winter to prevent icing. Salt has been widely used all over the northern hemisphere for many years and eventually reaches the sea. Does this huge amount of salt have any effect on the freezing characteristics of the sea in the polar regions?
