Is this okay for me to do?

I am from the us and i am planning to travel to kuwait to visit a male friend and his family. They have invited me to stay in there home during my stay. I have heard a few things about the serperation between men and women in kuwait so i am alittle confused if this is ok or not. please any answers would be helpful at this point.
