My husband always loses stuff when he cleans the house..?

He has lost an expensive pet brush that I just purchased a week or so back ($22), a book that he 'needs' ($30), and I think he threw away a pile of wedding paperwork that I planned to keep. He thinks that we should 'just replace the things that are lost', and I want him to find all of the things he misplaced. We can't afford for him to continue to lose things and just replace them. To give him some credit, he HAS looked for a few days. Should I just give in and replace these items, or should I reinforce trying to make him find everything?
